Deeply symbolic in Asian cultures worldwide, lanterns are used
in celebrations to honor Buddha and ancestral spirits. Red is
symbol of luck, happiness, prosperity and wealth. Red Lantern
Redwood City's soaring ceilings accommodate a collection of
massive, red silk lanterns. A mezzanine overlooks the main dining
room and lounge, where 42-inch, flat-panel screens project
images of Southeast Asian art and landscapes. Seating is a mix
of dining tables and upholstered booths. The bar hosts a 20
seat communal table made from 100-year-old petrified wood. |
